Bashpin was built to fix it — not with more filters or longer lists, but with a map. A live, interactive map that shows you exactly what is happening around you, right now, within whatever distance you choose.
The first challenge was accuracy — a map that lags even slightly destroys trust. The second was data — events come from multiple sources, multiple formats, constantly changing. The trickiest challenge of all was simplicity — maps are inherently complex with radius controls, zoom levels, pin clustering, and live refresh. The moment the interface feels like work, the whole product falls apart.
We made the map the product — not a feature tucked inside it. From the first screen, Bashpin puts the user on a live map of their surroundings. Radius-based filtering algorithms process location data in real time. A scalable event database with clean API integrations pulls from multiple sources, normalizes information, and keeps everything current. Built mobile-first in React Native.
Bashpin launched to exactly the kind of response a location-first product hopes for hyper-local engagement from users who actually showed up to the events they discovered. The radius-filtering approach proved its value immediately. Instead of browsing endlessly, users were finding relevant events within seconds and acting on them. Discovery became a behaviour, not a chore. For us, Bashpin was a reminder that the best UX is often invisible. When an app just works when the map loads fast, the pins are accurate, and the right events appear without effort users do not notice the technology. They just enjoy their Friday night.
